Or just walk away.” Using “a bit of AI” is the same thing as “being a bit pregnant”, after twenty years of trying to get Windows games to run on Linux the open source scene finally gets the quite commercial militarized boot.
These AI converts all make the same mistake thinking it’s okay to feed the whole damn internet to *machines* who inevitably ruin the old internet with slopping it up, excuse me ‘enhancing’ it, claiming hallucinations and the need to extensively debug won’t affect everyday operations in any way. Windows was already ruined but at least games still work okay.
Was particularly alarmed by a Young One who referred to talking to people in real life as “talking to a wall”, oh so i’m considered “a wall” now? Go ahead with your sycophantic urges, cuddle up to a machine, it won’t drive you to suicide at all as it already did several times. I really don’t get guys any more, how are you going to have an AI girlfriend and still consider yourself an “alpha male”? Even more worrying: people starting to *demand* the same automated sycophancy from *other people*, that’s the unravelling of social fabric right there.
I’d rather be “left behind” than embark on some sycophantic automated “let’s fit in – again” quest for laziness or endorsement, simply do not expect to be right or endorsed all the time. Every time i did ICT changed the rules and i was wrong again, no fun in that.
Think i’m going to be a Luddite and my 3D printing will keep me somewhat sane, restoring a severed link between everyday computing and the physical world. It’s also good for keeping my manual crafting skills up to date.
